Ask Me Help Desk - To Young To Be A Parent

Hi! This is the first time I am writing concerning my family problems because I thought I could have handle anything, I usually use this site for accounting help, but now I believe I am handling too much, OK I am the eldest sister of 10 a single parent who drinks a lot, so I have to oversee my younger’s goes to school and stay out of trouble, I got my first job a month ago thank GOD for this site, but working and seeing about 9 younger children is tolling on me, I don't want us to separate so with my paycheck I send them to school, buy clothes, make sure they do their school work and such, but I cannot save a cent, also I can't afford a tutor for them, I am not asking for charity, as there are getting elder they want more than I can afford, our church help out a lot they bought this PC for me when I passed CXC with 7 subjects, please someone tell me what to do, my sister post some questions on this site and she's annoyed she didn't get answers the way I did, and now she's changing into a brat right before my eyes, don’t get me wrong she’s bright but I can’t help her with he work, she’s doing bookkeeping and the work they are giving her I don’t know it. The teachers here is no help, they just comes to school leave work and don’t explain what they must do or the calculation, I know I went through that same thing, but I had friends whom are not here anymore so I can’t call on them to help my brothers or sisters, mom is no help she let us do what we want or to drunk to care, please don't tell me get a life of my own because I am not leaving my brothers and sisters, but please what else could I do, I love my family with my life.
Please tell me what must I tell my sister concerning her work she thinks I got all the break in life, I try to explain this is not a break this is responsibility as an elder sister, I want to help her but I can’t, I had a lot of sleepless nights concerning them and I never complained, please where can I get help for her is there another free site I can contact, I know in my heart she can do very good in school, but this problem is eating her up, what should I do. :confused:

The problem your sister had was impatience and not wanting to do the work herself. We can't and won't do her homework for her, we can help her, but she has to put in some effort.

Any other site that will do her work for her, well I wouldn't trust that site. Will they go to college with her? If not, then how will she ever learn to do things on her own?

She came here, posted a question and then after a few hours complained because she hadn't gotten a response. We do this in our spare time, for free, because we care. We have lives of our own, responsibilities of our own, jobs, kids, you name it. We're here when we can be, not 24/7.

Have you talked to her teacher? Explained that she's not understanding the work and needs help? Most teachers are more then willing to help students that are having problems. This is probably your best bet.

Have you considered looking for a different school? If the teachers are as bad as you say then this is not the right school for your sister, or anyone for that matter.

You have a tough road ahead of you, I'm sorry that you have to go through all of this. It's too bad that your sister is so selfish that she's not willing to try harder and make your life a little easier after all the things you've done for her and your other siblings. Maybe it's time for her to work for the things she wants instead of you always giving it to her.

Hi Altenweg thanks for the reply, yes I went to the teacher I spoke to her she said she is very busy (she were watching bold and beautiful) she gave a piece of paper with a trial balance, I told her cherri has already done the trial balance I showed it to her, all she said were it were right and she dismiss me. I went to the principlal he said she is one of the best teacher but of lately she's having problems, I told him the students is suffering he said a lot of parents were here earlier in the week complaining, so write my name he will see, there were about 17 names of parents complaining about this teacher.

Well that's the first step. Everyone has problems, but it's her job to teach. If her personal problems are getting in the way of her job then she should probably quit until she can once again give it her all.

Don't let the issue drop, you sisters education is imortant and the principal and her teacher need to realize this and step up to the plate.

Yes you understand, also I have 7 more siblings going to that school the other is in kindergarten, that is the only school in our area, they know that, so they take advantage of our disadvantages, if I tell mom she will just go to school and curse everyone, she did that for me already having the same problem, it was very embarrassing, what I went through I am just trying to avoid for my siblings. She got a C she never got a C at any of her subjects, that's the reason she is so upset she still can't solve it. :confused:

I would help her but I have to say, I'm not good at that subject at all, she'd end up with an F if I helped. ;)

The main thing we ask on this site when it comes to homework is that the person asking does the work. We can help lead her in the right direction, but we can't give her the answer. That won't help her, she needs to learn to do it, not have someone do it for her.

She can try posting again, show what work she has done and someone can point out where she went wrong.

The problem might be that we don't have an expert that's able to help. We do have many experts, but not an expert for every forum.

This is a free site, so getting the right people depends a lot on the people willing to come and provide their time and expertise. It leaves a lot of areas wanting.

I wish I could help more. You have a lot on your plate, your sister should realize that, hopefully one day she will.
