    Felons using bows for hunting
Are felons in Kentucky allowed to use compound bows for deer hunting?

I would think because its not a firearm, but I don't know. When I was living in FL that's what I used. I didn't get caught though...

In Kentucky the use of crossbows requires a permit to go along with a hunting permit regardless if you are a felon or not.

    Hello Steve:

A compound bow is NOT a crossbow, so you'll be find.

You are correct, Exie. I realized my booboo when I posted it but left the post up anyway. But it's nice to know that if you are handicapped in Kentucky you can use a nifty crossbow if you get a doctor to fill out your form.

The poster must obtain a hunting license or he can get severely fined and/or have his bow permanently seized by those Wilflife guys lurking in the forest.

And the word is "fine" not "find" FYI. You need to train your fingers to automatically go to the right key on the keyboard. I never learned touch typing - I cheat and I look when I type even though I type 75 WPM+.

While there is no state or federal law prohibiting a convicted felon from possessing or using a compound bow, a regular condition of the Kentucky Probation and Parole Office is that no felon may possess a dangerous instrument or deadly weapon. Therefore, if you are on probation or parole, you risk your liberty by hunting with a compound bow. If you have completed your period of probation or parole, have at it.
