    Wiring issues
    Hello,
I am trying to install a ceiling fan, but I have ran into a problem. The light fixture that I removed have 2 green wires and 2 black wires that were connected to a black and green wire coming from the ceiling. The ceiling fan that I am trying to install has 1 white wire, 1 blue wire, 1 black wire coming out of the shaft, and 1 green wire connected to base of shaft. How in the world do I connect four wire to two wires? Please help me it is very hot here.

Hook white from fan to white in ceiling, connect the black and blue to the black in ceiling, connect the grounds(greens and bare).
Black is fan and blue is the light.

There is no bare wire coming from the ceiling only black and white. Where can I connect the green wire?

Was this light you are replacing controlled by a wall switch or by a pull switch on the light itself?

This is critical because it will tell us more about you need to do.

The "J Box" in the ceiling, is it metal and is it listed for for use with a fan? If not, then start by replacing the J Box with a fan bracket. The support system for a simple light is not designed for the weight of a fan and the resulting vibration.

The wire coming into the ceiling J box, is it in conduit or have a metal covering over the wire? If so, then the green wire would get screwed to the metal J Box.

With the new holder in place, you can then wire the fan as described above. Black from the ceiling to Black and Blue on the fan. White from the ceiling to White on the fan, green would be attached to the new metal J Box
