Name of a movie sorry for the vague description
I remember watching on TV when I was younger but I can't remember the name. It's about this boy his father left for the service and the boy had to live with his grandmother. The boy kept a calender and counted down the days for his father to return. The boy's grandmother died while his father was still away and he had nowhere to go. I think he stayed and worked on a ranch in exchange for a place to stay and food to eat. The boy had a horse I think and he gave it to the ranch or something I can't remember but in the end he stole his horse back I think and rode it all the way to meet his father where he was going to dock at. Please help this has been on my mind FOREVER and I can't get it out.
