Hi I've been trying to figure out when I'm ovulating. I have my period every month a half to 2 months. Last couple times it been 2 months apart. So I'm not due for my period again till aug 4. Im wondering when I ovulate? Is it 2 weeks before? I always feel like I'm pregnant before I get my period because my boobs hurt really bad and I crave weird things. But that starts about 2 weeks before I have my period. Is that when I'm ovulating? I have been trying to get pregnant since I had my miscarriage in march of 08. I've pretty much started giving up hope. I didn't know if we should have sex every 2 days for the last 2 weeks or what. My husband and I are both 21 yrs old and our family doesn't have trouble having kids. Is it time for us to get checked for infertility? It just seems weird since we have gotten pregnant before. Any advise would be great!

You can buy over-the-counter ovulation tests to find out when you're ovulating. Also, talking to a doctor wouldn't be a bad thing.

Rough guide is that you will ovulate about 12-16 days before your next period is due... however if you happen to ovulate a bit sooner or later, you could miss the mark.

Some find having sex every other day during the middle 2-3 weeks of your cycle may also work. Sex every other day throughout your entire cycle, with a few more sessions several days before you think ovulation may occur, could help.

These give you a starting place... watch for other possible signs. Often there will be a change in the type of discharge you have. When ovulation is getting near, it usually will become more fluid, clear, and more abundant... the picture to have in your mind is that it will be like egg whites. You may notice more of an interest in sex around that time, some slight cramping, and breast tenderness... so what you have felt could be signs your body is preparing for ovulation.

Timing is just part of it, so if you feel you have done your best at determining when you most likely ovulate, and have been trying at this time for at least a year without success, see your doctor. Never hurts to discuss your plans for conception with them anyway.
