I am converting my basement into a living space and have an existing toilet waste pipe coming down into the room that I am trying to finish. My joist bays are 2X8 and I have my basement foundation approximately 16" away from the drop. What I would like to do is put a 3" long sweep 90 directly after the toilet flange ( to keep it in the 2X8 bay) and then almost immediately put another 3' long sweep 90 to take it down the basement wall and out of the room. Is that too many 90's in such a short run to accommodate a toilet?

Do you mean put a 3" long sweep 90 directly after the closet bend on the horizontal and then another sweep looking down? Or are we talking dogleg here? Regards, tom

The toilet flange with a 3" long sweep 90 so that we are going horizontal, then directly attached to that another 3" long sweep 90 so that we are now running vertical and down the wall. I only have about 14" to my wall and that gets it out of the room that I am trying to finish and also keeps the pipe in the joist bay.

I wouldn't be to concerned about the two 90s, but how do you plan to vent it? There should either be a vent between the two 90s, or the second 90 should be replaced with a 3x2x3 tee with the vent running off the top of the tee. Can you post a pic of your layout.

On the vertical drop after the two 90's I have a 3X3X2 wye that connects to a 2" vent. So having two 90's together like that isn't a problem?

That wouldn't meet code in my area, but honestly, it will work just fine. So you have your vent, the ninetys will not create a problem. Think of it this way, your integral trap in the toilet is equivalent to 3(or more) nineties that are a lot smaller than the 3" 90s you will be using. I would just use the long sweeps if possible, but honestly regulars would actually work to. Good luck and please let us know how the project turns out.
