    Leaky bathtub faucet
My bathtub faucet is leaking badly. It looks to me that the hot knob will not close all the way. You turn the knob and it won't turn anymore but it looks like there is still a little room for it to close all the way but it won't. Is there any way to fix that easily?

We need some details, please. For starters, do you have a single-handle faucet, or separate handles for hot and cold water?

Separate for hot and cold. The hot one is the one that won't shut off.

When you turn the handles on your faucet to turn on the water how many turns will it make? If it only turns about one half turn you have a delta type faucet and probably need a kit for it. A kit consists of a ball, two seat rings and springs, a cam washer. Replace these and you should solve the problem.
If the faucet turns several turns then you have the old washer and seat type faucet and can be repaired with the right size washer and a new seat if needed.

Shut the hot water off at the outlet from the tank, pry the cap with the H on it off, remove the screw, and remove the handle. The last two steps could require penetrating oil and hammering, perhaps a puller. That should give you access to a nut. Unscrew it, and the whole works should come out. Take it to a store where people come up and ask if they can help. Show it to them, and let them help you find a replacement. Take it home and put everything together.

If you read some of my old posts, you would find suggestions people go to Ace Hardware rather than Lowe's and Home Depot.
