How do I lay concrete over concrete to avoid chipping, flaking and cracking?
I am considering overlaying concrete over concrete in the basement. How can I best do this to avoid problems with it in the future. I plan on coloring the cement before I say or staining it once it has been overlayed. I want to do it right the first time.
    Thanks

What type of prep work do you plan on doing to the first layer

How thick of layer do you plan on putting on top of the first.

Is this inside or out and does it freeze there?

I was hoping I'd get the answers to those questions. What prep work do I need to do and how thick should the layer be to avoid problems in the future.

I was hoping to get answers to our questions even worse... We ask them for a reason...

Impawley. You aren't using the full potential here available to you..

In order to answer this questions properly you need to answer our questions. We ask them because it makes a BIG difference here to prof guide you in the right direction.

Been pouring for over 30 years... and there are other professionals tradesmen here that may pick up on this thread. I just added to FR Chucks good questions to help cover more Job condition possibility

Concrete is what I do for a prof living... and a basement can freeze if its not heated and a shop basement. Is it a full basement??

So to not get a sterile out of the book answer need details...

It's possible you need little to no prep work. Don't know yet.
