Potty training advice etc.
We have had a American Cocker spaniel puupy for 3 weeks now. She was purchased from a pet store and had been there for one month. I have never owned a puppy before and this has been quite a challenging few weeks. "Zoe" has gone through a few stages in these weeks; from absolutely no control and messing in a few favourite spots if you didn't watch her every move: to beginning to understand and respond to the rewards of a treat when she complied by doing her business outside, but in the last few days, she clearly prefers to defecate in the house!! The word "treats" no longer turns her head (reward) and she just wanders off in the opposite direction when you are trying to get her to walk in her usual bathroom spots.
I am in and out of the house, at times she is in her kennel for 3-4 hrs when I am working. I was told kenneling the dog works for people like myself. However, these days, it seems that she is ruling the roost. I am signed up for Obedience lessons next week for Zoe but in the meantime need advice re: potty training, what is appropriate ways to use the kennel her to contain her so she doesn't control my life.
Thank you Julie
