In all my life, I have only had 2 infections after visiting the same dentist who is very rough, and I fear whose tools are not clean. I had an extraction a year ago, and she put a temporary bridge straight into the extraction site, after drilling the 2 side teeth. Within a day I had a major infection and had to have the bridge removed, and of course antibiotics. On Friday, I had the impressions for a permanent bridge, same dentist, and now have a terrible inner ear infection. Do you think this can be caused by an 'bad' dentist? I am afraid to go back in 2 weeks to have the permanent bridge fitted. Have already paid so will have to... can you comment on whether you think the above was caused by dentist? And also, what do I look out for when going back for the permanent fitting?

I don't see a relationship between impressions and an inner ear infection. I would ask though to see their sterilization area and ask what their protocol is.

It'd be unlikely that an impression would cause an infection.

A temporary bridge is meant to be used immediately so unless you are questioning the cleanliness of the office, it's unlikely that this would be the cause of your infection either.

As for having the permanent bridge cemented, I can't foresee any problems because it's not really considered "invasive" since it's a prosthetic that is being cemented to the prepped teeth.

Any number of factors could have caused your infection.
