    Abandonment
Can the mother of a kid give the kid to the father for 10 months at a time and not have to do anything for the kid or even see the kid, would that be abandonment?

In my eyes it would be. Of course it is. If the mother refuses to have anything to do with the child for that period, having no contact, it couldn't be anything other than abandonment. That has to be proven though, through the court system.

It is only abandomnent if you take the issue to court and they rule it is.

To me it is, to my wife it is, but again we can't issue a court order either.
So you will have to file a motoin with the court to that effect

    Hello justin:

Sure could be! But for what purpose? Custody? Child Support? You betcha! The father has to file a petition in family court, or hire an attorney.

Probably. Not a wise move, to say the least. It would give the father all kinds of fuel for his fires in any legal proceeding regarding the child.
