    Hi,

Is there a significant stand of water in the pit? Do you see the float switch and how to adjust that float? Tell us or show a picture about your sump pump pit.

Yes there the is a significant amount of water in the pit. I have been manually emptying it. The pump is a Rigid, with a float. If I move the float it stops, but as soon as I let go it starts to run again, but does not pump out the water.

You are still under warranty so I think taking it back is in order. A sump pump running, under water, should pump a great deal of water the moment it turns on. Have you insured that the intake is not clogged with debris or mud?

Bottom side of the pump or a inlet ring with a screen around the lowest circumference of the pump.

Also check the discharge pipe to make sure that it is not clogged.
