    Liablity on renters pool
Can a tenant put up a pool on the backyard that they are renting? If so who is liable if someone gets hurt or drowns

U as a renter should have renters insurance.

It is your responsibility to keep it safe for your guests.

    What does your lease say?

    Hello b:

Your lease should indicate whether a pool is legal, but I haven't seen any leases that preclude one.

If someone is hurt on your/their property you'll BOTH be sued.

Both the property owner and the renters can be sued.

The property owner should be aware and give permision ( since his insurance has to cover this and may even go up in price for it)
And most insurance companies have rules as to what pools will be covered.
Many may require fences around the pool, or a pool that can not be accessed without a ladder)

The property owner could and should require the renter to carry renters liability insurance for the pool
