You cannot find the status of a F 1040X US Individual tax return online. (I don't know about state returns.) The IRS website, where.s my refund link, and the refund hotline phone number neither have information on an amended returns. You have to contact the IRS by telephone. The customer service representatives will make you wait the entire processing time for forms before doing any research. I believe they do this to limit excess telephone calls. The normal processing time for a F 1040X is 8-12 weeks. If its passed 8 weeks they normally research it for you.
