    New outlets trip circuit
I replaced three outlets in my living room and the circuit won't come back on, it trips immediately. Next I put all the old outlets back in and the circuit worked fine. I tried to replace them one at a time but every time I replace an old outlet the circuit won't come back on. What am I doing wrong?

On the left there are 2 white wires and a ground. On the right the top is a black wire and the bottom is a red wire.

If you have a meter, measure between the red and black for 240 volts. May just need to break the tab on the hot side of the receptacle, half switched from another circuit. Or 2 20 amp circuits in 1 receptacle.
