    Crowns Fell Out
Today, the crown on the bottom left fell off. I got an appt with the dentist and he built up the tooth and cemented it back on.

I came home, got a cup of tea when the crown on the top right fell off!! This one was easier, just a matter of cementing it back on.

Anyone have any ideas? I did admit to the staff that I had developed an addiction to mint lifesavers over the past months. I can go through one after another. I don't bite them. Just let them melt. They told me that the sugar messes up crowns and bridges.

Maybe its rotting the tooth under the crowns... hard to say without looking at your teeth

Thanks for writing. If the tooth were rotten, would the dentist have cemented the teeth without first doing something? The first tooth he built up and inserted a pin, but he never mentioned any problem. The second one he just cemented with no preparation.

Well generally its not ideal treatment to retrofit a crown... the first one should have been remade if you can afford it

I wasn't given that option. Maybe I should be visiting another dentist for a consultation.

    Thanks for the information!

How old are the crowns, top and bottom?
You should have been given the option of having a new crown made for the one that had the build up done. How is the bite? Does it feel normal?

The bottom left is probably 4 years old. The top right is about 3 years old. What's weird is that they both fell out on the same day. 4 hours apart. I did ask the dental assistant about the crown next to the one that fell out. She said it wasn't loose.

The bottom left, he just built up the tooth, inserted a pin and cemented. The top right was just cemented back in-no preparation other than to dry it.

I'm a little nervous to eat. I know I'll never consume all those mints. I only thought of the weight I could gain, not my teeth. Oh well, I've learned my lesson.

I broke my jaw years ago and had extensive work done to my teeth. I had wires through my gums, some type of steel hooks across my teeth and then rubber bands held my mouth together. The steel bands wore off the enamel, so that's why I have a few crowns.

    Thank you for writing.
