And you do not have to be in the sun for excess exposure to be burnt (which many believe that you do).
This depends on each individuals skin and how long there skin type can withstand the longer exposure with sun rays. Also, your skin could just be sensitive and all lightening products are not made for everyones skin types. This is why you should she a dermotologist to determine which process is best for your skin or you will find yourself going through a trial and error period until you find what works best for your skin type. (which alot of us do but not necessarily the proper way, I am guilty of that)
For example, some use bio claire (myself as well) without problems and some have had reactions. So, this is a prime example of demonstrating every product does not accomodate each individual.
And hopefully, the process does not damage you skin. But in reality you should discontinue "any skin product whether lightening or not" that cause negative reactions to avoid further damage to your skin.
I hope you find something that works for you :)
