    Removing urine from a matress?
Ok well this is about my dog but I figured the children section would be better as I can get answers from mothers/fathers who have had bed wetters.
Apologies if this is against the rules!

I went into my bedroom and to my surprise there was a nice big wet patch on my matress, darn dog jumped up and peed all over my side of the bed...

Does anyone have any tips for getting urine out of a matress?

I don't want to just dry it as it may smell...

    Hi Shazykins :)

I've used a vacuum steamer to do the trick. They are magical.

Well, at least you didn't step in it like I did last night when my dear little Dinky took a dump and peed on my bedside rug. She was mad at me for not sharing some sliced cake with her. Grunge dump I guess. She usually just pukes.

Anyway, you will need one of those products that takes away the ammonia of the urine. If you were in the US I would recommend you get a product called Unique Pet Odor & Stain Eliminator out of Arvada, Colorado USA. They list an 800 number on the bottle 800-221-3259. You might want to give them a call and see if they sell anything over there in Oz that you could buy. That is the only stuff that I've ever found that takes the smell of urine away and stays away. The product is used to freshen firefigher's helmets and clothing from soot and fire smell, ambulances for vomit and pee smell. It does state on the bottle about treating mattresses for urine or poop smell as well as skunk odors!

There must be some sort of signal that the dogs are picking up to do this..!

Thanks guys! Had to spread the rep Muddy but I have seen those before and wasn't sure if they would work, now I know they do I'll look at getting one thanks!

Problem being it is 2am here and obviously nothing is open! I'll probably sit up till 9am and go get some of the Odor Eliminator that you mentioned twinkie as well as one of those steamers! (I have no life :p )

Shazzy - Had Dink puked she would have won the 3 in 1 Award for being an Obnoxious Puppy! She did win that award only once so far in 7 years...

The Unique liquid can be sprayed straight or diluted. If they don't sell it over there you could order it for the next time (hopefully not needed but you never know) your puppy needs an Obnoxious Puppy award.

Also you might want to check out the carpet cleaning companies in your local area and see if they sell any type of odor control liquid products. Down in Florida I stumbled on a carpet cleaning place that sold the chemicals and they would sell the chemicals to the public.

Thanks, we have a couple of cleaning places here that I know of, I'll check the phone book.

Oooooh yes, they need to Obnoxious Puppy award all right!

My girl is great, she tells me when she needs to go out but my boy... grrr... so may "accidents" inside... it's not looking good for his balls I tell you!

If you go to a mattress store- a good one- they have cleaners especially for that purpose. My husband works at a furniture/mattress store and they have special cleaners for different situations.

Yeah you definitely want a pet odor eliminator.

Pet stores carry many brands. I will have to try the one Twinkiedooter suggested.

    Thanks again guys!

I just scrubbed it with some washing powder I had... it said "Triple Enzyme action" on it so I figured it can't hurt!

It smells a bit better now but I will still buy the Odor Eliminator AND a steamer first thing in the morning!

The thought of sleeping on dog pee doesn't really appeal :(

It definitely would add a little something extra in the bedroom department.
