Sure dads want to give up their rights to get off the hook for child support. Most states will not allow it because they do not want to have to support the kids in the long run if you are not remarried.

While the state may let him sign away his RIGHTS, there's no way to get out of his OBLIGATIONS (child support) unless someone is stepping in to adopt.
