I am running an overhead cable to my garage in 6mm to a new consumer unit I am fitting do I need to use a uv protected cable and can I get this cable from a high street diy store?

Is underground not an option?
I would try there, other supply houses, or stop by a building in progress, in your area and ask a Local Electrician.
