    1992 GMC Sonoma Wanders/Steering Play
I have a 1992 GMC Sonoma 2wd, 2.8v6 with manual trans, power steering. It has a serious problem with wandering all over the road, and the steering wheel has about a half turn of play in either direction. I've put in a new drag link, new pitman arm, new idler arm, and new lower balljoints. Also replaced the steering box with a good used one and replaced the intermediate shaft/rag joint with a good used one. Tie rod ends seem tight. Column is tight.
What's kind of funny is sitting in the driveway, as soon as you move the steering wheel the slightest bit, the wheels immediately turn. I've lowered the truck by cutting a coil, and afterwards did a tape measure alignment and corrected camber with a level/by eyeball, but I did not mess with caster. So what's the deal lol?! When I have someone else work the steering wheel I can look underneath at all steering components and everything seems tight. Is the alignment my problem (I know what I did is not a professional alignment by any means lol, but a half turn of play in the steering wheel is just way too much)? Did cutting a coil mess up the suspension geometry that bad? What else am I missing?
    Thanks for your help!!

To answer your question I would have to say YES! At this point in time the best and probably only solution is to take it to a good alignment shop and have them go through it. Front end alignment work is not for the amateur. If something is loose or worn it could turn into a life threatening situation.
