What kind of charge is this? Does it come up in a backround check? While separated I hit my husband in face for harassing me @ my place of residence. My child was there but did not see this. I was charged with endangering welfare. Will this ruin my chances of going to school for nursing, or emergency medical tech? I am not a horrible person and not a dangerous person I was simply harassed to the point of no return by someone who sought me out and proceeded to get in my face and threaten me @ my residence, this was an un fair charge and I want to know if my life is pretty much ruined now. Thank You

I don't think this a chargeable offence, but you could always get your background check don and see what appears on it. This, I think, will rest your mind.

Maybe you should try to contact the head of the department in nursing. He or she will tell you what the requirements, etc. are. In my state, WI, a nurse I know lost his nursing license because he shoved his wife during an argument. His wife pressed charges and he lost his nursing license. He was hoping his wife would ultimately drop those charges- I don't know if she ever did.

The law may be different where you are- it's extremely important for you to find out now, before you invest a lot of time and money.

You can also explain the situation so they know the facts.
Trying to hide it would be worse cause they will think you do have something to hide or you are lying.

You said the charge is 'endangering welfare', should you not have said, 'endangering the welfare of a child'?

If a child is in a position where his physical, or emotional or moral well being is threatened, you can be charged. He/she does not have to witness an act of violence, or even be physically harmed. But, I suspect there is more to this story if there was enough evidence to charge you.

The only way your life will be ruined as you say, is if you are convicted of this crime. Because it involves a child, if you are convicted, it would more likely than not come up in a background check.
