I received notice in the mail for a garnishment on my account ,and apparently there was a court date .Iwis not informed of this! How embarrassing Iknow everyone at my bank. How do I stop this or what is the next thing I should do.I can't afford to pay it all at once. There are also 4 diff.amounts principal, interest ,credits and subtotal .Which one do I pay?

Were you not aware you a debt that had not been paid? Sounds like to me that who ever you owed got a judgement from the court and that gives them the right to clean out your bank account
But no, the bank does not have to let you know
Also before a judgement takes place there had to have been calls, letters etc and finally a court date that's is why I asked were you not aware of this debt?

If they obtained a judgement and have now obtained a writ of execution against your bank account there is little you can do. Were not aware of the judgement?

If you were not aware and never served notice of the judgement , then you may challenge it on grounds of improper service, but if you knew of the judgement, just did not know about the garnishment then there is little you can do.

The time to "do" something is long past, that is before they go and get a judgement

Like Fr_Chuck said if you were not served noitce of a judgement then you challenge it on the grounds of improper service, but to be honest with you I don't think you are telling us everything, Did you not receive tons of calls and letters about this debt? Did you have any thing in wrtitng?
