My friend has just left a 4 year, relationship where she says they were common law married and he says they were not. The relationship was never consummated (this is agreed upon by both parties) and they own no property together. It was strictly a roommate situation. Problem is, he put her on his taxes as his wife because he was supporting her the entire time. Neither party knows if they are legal common law married and if they will need a divorce.
