Is it true that Bassam Darwish (Darwishahmed) is palestinian?

I read somewhere that he is Syrian.

The book I saw said that MR. Bassam Darwishahmed is Palestinian & that was the reason behind his story, I mean the story he was telling where according to him, he was born is Palestine & moved to the US before 9/11, became a very successful business man, married had a child. Short story long, he was played by his wife & the federal government without the help of his best friend and his own attorney, got imprisoned, lost all his money & been betrayed by the ones he loved, they deported him and accused him wrongly.. Well that was his story but I'm not sure if this is true, I mean his story, but I like to know what others think..
