So I just got done with my first year of college and when everyone came back it feels like everything has changed. People have changed a lot. Priorties for good or worse. I also have deadbeat friends, and stuff. One friend is a guy but I feel like he is a girlfriend he likes to play games with me that is so stupid. I am afraid that when I drop this people it will be so hard to meet new people at my age. What should I do?

After my first year of college I came home saw my old friends and realized I had nothing in common with them anymore. It is funny how when you are a kid in high school your friends are sooooo important to you and they will be your friends forever. It just doesn't work out that way. People change for better or for worse. I am 31 now I talk to 1 person from when I was a kid my best friend who I have known since I was 4 that's it. Other then that I could careless about the people I went to high school with.

This happens as you get older. People change; some for the better some for the worse. You have to stay focused on what's important to you and drop those that aren't on the same track.

You will meet new friends each year in college with likeminded people. Join some social clubs in school and you will already share a common interest. Participate in on-campus activities. Maybe even pick up a part-time weekend job and you will meet people through work.

When I came back from my first year of school, I felt the same way. But looking back on it I understand. Our paths changed and we went in different directions.

That's very true. A year is a long time especially when your all involved in other situations with little contact. I don't have one friend now that I had in high school. A couple have recently started to email me and one moved home. I went to see her since we were best friends for years. I felt nothing. In fact I couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. We grew in different directions and have not one thing in common to talk about. It just happens. Its all about growing up. A lot of people come and go in your life. They will all make a mark one way or the other. But they don't all stay.

As you said yourself there 'deadbeat'
You have a different perspective now,and that's good,you want more for yourself and your life..
There is no harm in being selective in who your friends are,after all,friends are important,and you will need them throughout your life.

Everything has changed, your young adults now, and the high school stuff is gone. Concentrate on making the most of college, and you will meet new friends. You'll see.
