    Heat and AC run simultaniously
Had a new T-stat installed while having system inspected. Now when I switch to cooling from heating both run at the same time. What the.. Is the new T-stat wired wrong? Very frustrating! Please help.

The wire old with cotton insulation and there don seem to be any markings on the terminals. This was professionally installed while I was there but the wiring is hard to make out because of the excess insulation there.

Sounds like the new thermostat is either intended or configured for a heat pump system.
