We have a solid unit shower/tub insert and there is no plumbing access from the other side. The tub spout broke clean from the interior pipe - water shoots directly out towards the opposite wall. Everyone tells us we can fix this easy ourselves, but we are totally clueless on how to remove the remaining bit of pvc pipe and repair it. Could anyone give us some directions please? Thanks!

So your tub spout was mounted ona PVC pipe, it broke, you have no access and your friends say this is easy to fix. I am going to disappoint you on many levels. Tell your froiend that since it so easy would they kindly come over and do it for you. Look inside the old spout, do you see some PVC pipe inside, if so you need to cut yourself an access hole in the next room behind your shower valve. Cut and replace the pipe from there

Go to Home Depot, buy 14"x14" Snap-In Access Door. Put it on the wall behind the broken spout, outline the door - and cut it. Then, you will have access to fix it. Fix the pipe - and Snap the door over the opening. No patching or painting necessary...

but where did it "break off clean" from. Inside the tile wall? Outside it? F you had a access panelyou could go in and cut the stubout back and glue on a 1/2" PVC coupling and bring the stubout back out so a spout could be reinstalled. Good luck, Tom
