Well, I can't do it anymore but I donated 3,110 grains of rice.

This is a pretty cool site though. I might have to go back and do a couple thousand per day.

In a totally bored insomniac moment a while back, I figured out that 600 grains of rice makes a cup when cooked.

That's pretty cool. I gave a little over 5 cups. So about 5 people unless you gave smaller portions.

I'm going to head over there and donate a couple thousand or however many in the next 45 minutes.

Because the answer always end up being 9 once you do the math... so you always end up with the same thing. :p

Well, it's not actually because it's "nine" or that the two digits add up to nine. Actually, multiples of nine. That's just a coincidence though, and not the actual reason.

    10 - 1 - 0 = 9 : 20 - 2 - 0 = 18 : etc.
    11 - 1 - 1 = 9 : 21 - 2 - 1 = 18 : etc.
    12 - 1 - 2 = 9 : 22 - 2 - 2 = 18 : etc.
    13 - 1 - 3 = 9 : 23 - 2 - 3 = 18 : etc.
    14 - 1 - 4 = 9 : 24 - 2 - 4 = 18 : etc.
    15 - 1 - 5 = 9 : 25 - 2 - 5 = 18 : etc.
    16 - 1 - 6 = 9 : 26 - 2 - 6 = 18 : etc.
    17 - 1 - 7 = 9 : 27 - 2 - 7 = 18 : etc.
    18 - 1 - 8 = 9 : 28 - 2 - 8 = 18 : etc.
    19 - 1 - 9 = 9 : 29 - 2 - 9 = 18 : etc.

No matter what you pick, every two digit number will go up by one (in relation to the one before it). All two digit numbers starting with the same number (ie, 12, 15, etc.) will always have the same possibility. That way, instead of having 89 possible outcomes (10-99), there are only nine. If you look through, the choice for 9 will be the same choice for the other possibilities. Then, if you try again, they will just change the "regift" but it will still be the same for all 9 possibilities...

    Yay for boredom!

BTW: I've donated too much to freerice... it was all we did for a week in my computer class...
