Portable Generator Circuit Breaker Opening
I have a Chinese made Blue Max generator that is rated for 4000W startup and 2600W continuous output. I have put 50-70 hours on over the last 2 summers with no problems running up to five 500W halogen lights. Recently the circuit breaker trips with any more than 3 lights turned on. I can turn all 5 on and it will power for up to 15 min and then trip the breaker. Last summer the engine ran well unchoked independently of the generator load. On initial startup this year I noticed the engine is picky about the choke position and requires some choking when unloaded and no choke when there is a heavy load. Are the two problems related? Is the circuit breaker bad? Is the generator part of the machine bad? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
