18 months post hysterectomy still bleeding

I am in need of some help desperately. I have a GYTN appointment on November 6th. I had my hysterectomy 1-31-05. Kept ovaries. In about 4 months after I began noticing bleeding with intercourse with my husband. Sometimes I would need to wear a pad. Also the intercourse was at times painful. I returned to my GYN 5 times for this problem, he used silver nitrate each time and assured me it would go away. Well it has not and since then, I had put this problem on the back burner because of severe IBS with constipation and bloating, going on zelnorm helped some, in the meantime I had gain around 30 pounds in about 6 months? Crazy I thought. Wellm I am still having the constipation and still almost 2 years post op having bleeding, my husband usually has to tell me right after because I cannot see clearly (glaucoma) anyway, I am afraid these all sound like Ovarian cancer. No hystory of cancer in my family and I am only 40. I thought for a while I must have Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia due to all my extreme fatigue? Any help would be appreciated! I am so concerned because of the intercourse needing to be modified due to pain and bleeding, sometimes I have spotting for no reason? Is it my ovaries?

I would get a second opinion on your health. What you are going through is definitely not the norm. The bleeding should not be happening. I had a hysterectomy 26 years ago already - was only able to keep one ovary - experienced some discomfort during intercourse, but never the bleeding. Am familiar with CFS and Fibromyalgia also - have the fibromyalgia. Hope things work out. Guess I would say never quit asking questions of your doctor until you are satisfied. Do not accept what you are experiencing now. And good luck to you!

Yes, I would agree that you need a second opinion. There is no question about it. If you had your uterus removed, there should be no bleeding as menses are the shedding of the uterine tissue.

    Please get a second opinion.
