Is this all CD's or just certain ones? Have you tried a music CD for example. Is there anything happening at all when you put the disk in the CD drive - e.g. light flashing etc.

P.s. HP Pavilion MX75 appears to be a monitor so I believe you typed the wrong product code.

Last time I had this problem, it was the CD drive going bad. Try installing a different drive in that same computer. If it works when your current drive doesn't, then you know what the problem is.

    Check your device manager.

    Control setup
    System
I don't remember but click around until you see an option for device manager
Click to see if it is connected, if not its probably not connected or it is bad, which is rare

It's possible that just unplugging all the cables and reconnecting them will fix the problem. That doesn't happen often, though.

To get to the Device Manager:
    1. Rt-Click on My Computer
    2. Select Manage
    3. Expand System Tools
    4. Select Device Manager
