The father of your child can't just give up his rights.

This is his solution to not financially or emotionally supporting his child, as a mother I would be upset.

You will should have a lawyer to file for divorce, especially when there is a child involved.

He can't do give up his rights, so don't bother. I would hire a lawyer for the divorce though.

What he can do is give you full custody and take/use no visitation. That does not prevent you from getting child support from him though.

As already pointed out he can't do it period. If he doesn't want to visit he dosen't have to simple as that. However, the child is not property that can be given away like a house or car.

I am sorry for your trouble.

As you have been told he can not just give up his rights, this is often said by dead beat dads who think they don't have to pay money by somehow going away.

This is not the case, you need an attorney since he most likely will not sign and agree to what the child should be getting legally.
