I am not very educated on generators, but do you mean the RPM of the gas motor or the RPM of the acutal generator.

The RPM of the engine will be the same as the generator, since the engine drives the generator. Increase the RPM of the engine.

On a lot of the lessor expensive generators we run into a virtual "line Loss' situation where as the generator runs and load is demanded of it you may start a 115-125-V but as the unit heats up voltage can drop considerably. Dual winding copper genesets are desirable many units cheapen the unit up where the expense is, preciuos metals. Check the voltage when the unit is hot and voltage can be increased by speeding the engine up. Use a volt meter.

It is best to use cheap generators on resistive loads and your more sensitive as well as motored units leave alone.
