So, I installed a new vanity this weekend. Everything looks great... except for the plumbing connection. The tailpipe from the sink drops down very close to the wall drain pipe.

Any suggestions on how I should install a P-trap on this one? I know I have some length to play with in the horizontal drain extension and the tailpipe extension but I am going to need a new piece of pipe (or two) to make this fit. Should I look for a wider P-trap pipe at the hardware store? Plus two elbows to make an S-curve into the (if it exists) wider P-trap pipe? Is there a better method for this sort of situation?

Should I take the easy way out and go with this flexible extension? Do I have to worry about code standards with these units?

Any chance you can move that cabinet an inch to the right? With the two pipes being in the same plane you will have trouble getting almost anything to connect.

No luck. I need it tight against the left wall for a variety of reasons. What do you think about using the flexible tailpipe extension?

Never like the flexible hose but did one once, desperate. You can cut that tail piece and jog it over with 2 45s

Option 1: You can shorten the piece of horizontal drain pipe coming out of the wall. Cut it so when you glue in the drain adapter, so it is all the way at the wall. Now, use 1 1/4" trap. It is bit smaller than 1 1/2". See if it fits.

Option 2: use 2 - 45 on that grey vertical pipe. Shorten it all the way below the pop up assembly, connect 2 -45s . Install trap and line it up with 45's. You will have to use short piece of 1 1/4" pipe to connect 45s and trap.

Option 3: Cut the horizontal drain pipe at the wall. Install Street 45. Glue trap onto the 45 and connect with vertical piece. This may be the easiest Option for you.
