    Rental Law in TN
We are currently renting a townhouse to a tenant, recently there has been extensive damage done to our property. Our manager, a realtor of Crye-Lieke realty, never had the tenant sign a lease agreement, background check, nothing. All she did was run his credit and let him move in. I want to know who is responsible for this mess? And do we have a case on our hands?

    Hello N:

It would depend on your agreement with the manager. Hopefully, there IS a written agreement.. If not, who's to say what standards she is required to adhere to, or what your recourse is?

If you have nothing written, then I doubt you'll win if you sue her. You're better off suing the deadbeat tenant.

A month to month tenant is still liable for damages. ( the manager of property is not normally liable for anything unless you have it in writing)

So you sue the renter for the damages
