California Renters in home in foreclosure
    Hello,
I lost my home to foreclosure in 2007. We rented a house and before our lease was up, the landlord decided she wanted to move into the house. We left the house amicably, and leased another house. We signed a three year lease. We have been paying $2695. A month since last September. THe landlord gave us permission to plant flowers etc. We have three children and losing our own home that we lived in for 15 years was very hard. It was also difficult with the first rental, as the landlady was a bit "off". Now, today, at my NEW rental house, was a sale date for foreclosure. I had no idea that there was a problem. This is the first notice that we as tenants have received. OF COURSE, the landlord says it's a mistake.. The sale date on the house is June 25th. How much time do I have to find a new home? I am in remission from cancer, and cannot believe this is happening to me again. HELP!

I can't believe you pay almost $3000 to rent a home by the month?? If you have that much money to rent, why don't you buy a house ?

    Tickle,
I would love to buy a house, but with the foreclosure on our credit, we can't get a loan. We can't even get a car loan. The median price of a house here in Thousand Oaks Ca, is 500,000. It is expensive as hell to live here. I just want some stability for my kids for a few years. Not constant moving, and Mom crying. I even had trouble leasing a house. Foreclosure on our credit has hurt us. Even with co-signers with good credit, we got turned down for leases..

Well good news to a point,

First after the foreclosure the bank has to give you 90 day notice

And in California the landlord can not collect rent from you while he is in foreclosure status, so he actually owes you several months of rent back. ( good luck getting it)

THank you so much.. that is somewhat good news for us.. except the landlord texted me at 6am, asking to come over the rent, saying he has to give it to their lawyer, so they can"save thier home". Don't they mean their rental property?
