    Renters insurance
    Please advise,
We had a small grease fire in our apartment while cooking. The sprinkler system went off and the carpet had to be replaced along with some minor painting and replacing of the microwave above the stove. The apartment complex would like me to pay for damages because my renters insurance had been canceled a few days before the fire. I will be meeting with management on Tuesday. How much am I responsible for? The fire marshall classified the fire as accidental. Please advise.
    Thank you,

You are 100% responsible. ALL fires are accidental... unless you're a phiro. Why would you think that the landlord should bare any monetary responsibility?

Yes, you need to write them a check for all the damages to their property, lucky it did not burn the building down.

This is why insurance is so important. You had a fire, while an accident you were the one doing it.
