Okay.. so here is the deal , went out bought a digital themostat today , the guy at the store told me it would be easy... but I don't think I set it up right because I am FREEZING!

I have 4 wires...

1-Red
1-Blue
1-Yellow
1-Green

Now.. I attached all the wires correctly... however I am a little confussed with the RED wire.. do I atach it to the RH ? Or the RC ? And do I keep the jumper on those terminals when I attach it??

PLEASE god help me... right now I have it set to.. RED wire on RH - and the jumper seeting is set HG...

I have the heat blasted up to 35 to see if the temp in the room increases.. but its only been droping , and maintainin at about 29.8...

With the red and blue wire disconected from the thermostat, touch them to each other and see if the furnace comes on. If they do then connect the blue wire to the terminal marked W. And the red to the terminal marked RH and then use the jumper for RC to RH. If this does not make the furnace come on try to notice if it makes the AC come on. If it does not work touch the yellow wire to the red wire and see what comes on.
When you find out which wire turns on the furnace then the other wires go to the Y for AC and G for the blower.

Okay.. I did just what you had asked and this is what I got

Red + Blue (alone nothing connected to the themostat) - made a sound , but nothing actually happened.

Red + Green (alone nothing connected to the themostat) - blew out cold/neutural air from the vents

Red + Yellow (alone with nothing connnected to the themostat) - started a humming noise within the HVAC , but nothing came out of the vents.


Earlier today I doubled checked my analogue model.. and the HEAT worked.. with the Green to G , Red to R , Blue to B , and Yellow to Y. Not sure why this is causing such an ordeal ? Should I be removing the Jumper and just using RH ? Or RC ? Alone?

What does RH / RC stand for?!

RH stands for red heating RC stands for red cooling, some systems have two transformers operating their system one does the furnace and the other does the cooling. Since you only have four wires I suspect that you only use one transformer.

Put The red wire to the RH and use the jumper to go to RC... use the Blue wire on W terminal... use the green wire one the G terminal... use the yellow wire on the Y terminal.

You said that when you put the blue and red wire together you heard a noise but nothing happened. Are you sure that your pilot light is lighted??

Do you have gas heat? I think that is what the HG jumper is for. If you have a heat pump, you may need a different jumper setting.

All I know is when I came home last night , and turned on the heat via the analogue themostat... heat actually came out.

I have a heat pump , so I have tried switching the jumper over... with the traditional settings R - RH , B- Blue , Green - G , Yellow - Y , and I will see what happens.

If nothing happens , I will move the Blue wire down and attach it to the "W"

*UPDATE*


So I have connected the Blue wire to W.. and with the jumper set at HG and nothing happened :mad:

I then switched the jumper to make it HE , with Blue wire to W and it just blew out air (not heated , nor cold) :mad: :mad:


Should I consider taking this themostat back??

Before doing that, carefully read and follow any instructions that came with it on making it work with a heat pump. When you take it back, some places would rather explain how to make it work with a heat pump than take it back.

I don't know exactly what heat pumps need, but I know it is different from furnaces.

If your equipment only has 1 transformer, say in the furnace, jumper Rc and Rh.
See some systems may be a boiler for heat with a transformer in it and an Air handler for A/C with a transformer in the air handler. So since you only have 4 wires and not 5 its safe to say jumper Rc>Rh

I just wanted to update you guys on my situation.

I took back the Noma Themostat , and ended up spending an additional $50 and buying a Honeywell model that works!

Help! I have purchase a digital thermostat and the wiring that I have does not match what the instructions say. I have 4 wires. 1 blue, 1 white, 1 green, 1 orange. A yellow wire is attached to the old thermostat and it was attached to the plate also. A red wire was hooked onto RC but it fell of and it was not connected to the other wires. The new one has connections for all the colors, but I don't have wires connected for all of them...

I have just installed the Noma programmable thermostat 52-2570-6 it has 7 programmable days. Upon installing it the heat turned on the A/C and the A/C turn on the Heat. I've checked my wires they were all in the correct location, so I switched the "Y" and "W" wires or the heat and the cooling wires the unit works fine.
