    NYC taxes and F1 status
    Hi,
I am a on an F1 visa currently staying and working in NYC under OPT status. I will work in NYC just for the duration of my OPT, for about 10 months all in all. I have filed my taxes for 2008. My employer has withheld NYC taxes. Now my refund for the city taxes is being rejected because I have a NYC address.
I am right that I am not supposed to pay NYC taxes if I'm OPT and I'm leaving for good after my visa expires, even if I live in an apt. in NYC. If yes, what should I do now?
    Thanks!

Inform the city that you are an International student and are not subject to the city taxes.
