    Dead tractor battery
    Hi,

We own a Troybilt lawn tractor that is 2 yrs old. This year it will not start. What should I do other than make sure all connections and filters are clean. I heard about adding distilled water to battery. Does that work

Put it on a battery charger

    Jump start it.

    Is it low on liquid

Many tractor batteries are sealed so be careful how you go about checking the acid level, that's right acid, its not water down in the battery so be careful. Chuck gave it to you, charge the battery or jump start it.

Lawn mowers don't have generators. That means the battery doesn't recharge itself. So like the two gentlemen before me stated, hook up a charger to it first, then if necessary, buy a new one. I just did yesterday myself, and got a good one from Walmart for less than $30.00.

Lawn mowers have a rectifier/regulator that recharge a battery. However, you still may have to charge the battery to get the negine started.
