    When do you use the perfect tense?
    Which sentence is correct?

    She had eaten before her mother came home

    Or

    She ate before her mother came home.

    Either sentence can be used as they are both grammatically correct.

    The first sentence is in the Present Perfect tense.

    The second sentence is in the Past tense.
