    Damp Wall
Above my kitchen is a flat roof. The flat roof has been replaced as it was leaking but I am still getting damp patches on the wall. The person who replaced the ceiling says that it is the old plaster releasing the old water but the ceiling was replaced a year ago and it gets worse when it rains in different places. The majoirty of the patches are in the middle of the wall with some at the top of join with the ceiling.

I have no idea what to do next!

    Thanks

At the inside edge of flat roof, is there an outside wall? If there is, was flashing replaced or checked when roof was done?

What material was used to redo roof?

Leaks are hard to determine the starting location.

Take a hose and starting at front edge of roof, run water about 3 minutes with someone watching ceiling inside. Move toward back of roof about 1' and repeat.

Do this for whole roof. At point where water starts coming in is approx. area where problem is.

    Good luck

Obviously your roof patch did not work and you still have an active leak. There is no ceiling fix until your get your roof redone properly. Best bet is to get 3 bids from qualified, licensed and bonded roofer. I would suggest a rubber membrane.

I just went through the same thing. I fixed a patch of roof where I saw water coming in when it rains. After fixing it I still go a damp wall when it rained. Come to find out the water was coming in at the top of my roof and running under the shingles until it hit the weak spot in roof itself. Yeah, I wasn't very excited. Did you replace the whole roof or just a patch where they thought the leak was coming through. There still might be a gap that is letting water seep through the roofing and collect under the flat part, I don't know if that helps, but I hear your pain.
