Replace or repair wall mounted toilets-change to floor mounted?
I have an older home with wall mounted toilets ‘back to back‘ in adjacent bathrooms. One of the toilets is damaged and needs to be repaired or replaced. Both toilets have deposits built up over the years. Would it be more cost effective to replace one or both of the toilets with new wall mounted toilets or should I convert both of them to floor mounted toilets? Any ideas about the cost of either option?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Converting a wall mount to a floor mount requires some major repiping. Are your pipes cast or PVC?

Yes, going from wall to floor mount is a little invovled. Depending on what type of pipe you have and the access to piping below floor. To convert to floor mount, you will need to cut into wall behind one of the toilets, remove wall hung supports, adapt to pipe, and have room under the floor to install a double wye for new floor mount drains. If you have plenty of room and access, I would suggest converting.

I would have to have a really good reason to go to the expense and hassle of tearing up the wall and floor to convert from a wall hung to a floor mounted bowl. I hope you have one because this is going to cost you. Good luck. Tom
