    Theft under 5000 by association
Hey all, a couple night ago me and a couple of guys (that I don't normally hang around with) went to the local 24/7 convince store to get some food after the bar. I grabbed some stuff for everyone and paid. The guys then apparently stole a bunch of stuff from the store, I had no idea (or don't remember having any idea, I was heavily intoxicated). I found out the next day I am banned from the store and possibly being charged with theft under 5000.

I have a clean record and am 19 years old, living in Alberta Canada. What are my options here?

    Hello Youngster:

Keep your mouth shut. Don't talk to these guys AGAIN. Don't talk to the cops. If they charge you, hire a lawyer.

I don't plan on talking to them again, there not exactly "ideal citizens", it was a wrong place at the wrong time situation. I have already talked to the RCMP as he is the one that told me what was going on. I left a statement saying pretty much the same thing in my original post, and offered to pay for the goods the others stole.

This is also in a town of ~3000 people so I know all of the RCMP officers here, and am on all of there "good sides" so to speak.
