Searching for birth father from 1952
I am looking for my husband's birth father. My husband was born at home in North Carolina in 1952. His mother was not married at the time and never spoke of the birth father. I joined ancestry.com, rootsweb.com.. and checked social security index. I sent away for his birth certificate and all it says is
    Father
    Lynwood Wells
    Age: 20
    Birthplace: Richlands, N.C.

That is it. His mother died when he was a boy. No one ever mentioned the father or gave any info. My husband remembers a story that he might have been in the military at the time of his birth but not really sure if that was true or a story he was told.
Where do I go from here? Where else can I look?

This has been trial and error for 8 years now. My husband is 56 years old and knows his father may not be alive today. I guess he just need some answers.

If anyone can tell me where else to search I would truly appreciate it.

    Thank you

So... was your husband adopted by someone? Or just raised by a single mother?
