How do I resurface a stained bathtub?

To do that, in order to make it look and function the best, would require specialized tools and safety equipment. It's also helpful to have some training in how to do it.

Do you have a compressor?

How is it stained? Has the stain gone all the way through the finish? I ask those latter two questions, because it might be possible to remove the stains without resurfacing the whole tub.

There are companies that specialize in tub resurfacing.

However, I have never seen good resurfacing job. It looks good first month. Than it starts looking like "resurfaced" tub: cracks appear, stains bleed through, rust starts coming up around drain, etc. Usually, people do it just before they put their house on market.

What kind of tub do you have ? Tin ? Cast Iron ? Plastic ?

Every cast iron tub can be cleaned almost to its original condition. Some plastic tubs, too. ( Call manufacturer of plastic tub for referrals to Tub Resurfacing contractors ). Tin tubs are the hardest to get cleaned. I would probably replace them rather then attempted to resurface them. There is also new product on market: it is a liner that installs over existing tub. But I won't comment on it since I have no experience with this process.
