I live in Missouri and it is now hot. My roof in the day goes up to 120 degrees f and takes time to cool down at night. Is it possible for snakes or any other rodents to live in my attic at this temperature. I hear something moving around but cannot find out what it is. What is a good snake poison?

I've got flying squirrels in my attic . I think maybe I've gotten them under control( hopefully). I put out Hav-a-heart traps and caught a RAT too. So yes, they can live up there in the heat. As far as the snakes, they make some stuff called Snake a way. It works good too. I put out mothballs and paprika too. Good luck.

Several questions in two short lines. Let's go one at a time.

1) Yes, snakes can live in a hot attic. Why they would want to is the question. They might hunt up there, but live?

2) Yes, rodents can live in a hot attic. They could be food for snakes.

3) Something heard moving over the ceiling does not have to be inside the attic. Check your roof for trees that could rub or allow squirrels access.

4) In many states, most snakes are protected species. Repellants are recommended over poison. Most repellants include a large proportion of napthalene (mothball flakes) which is also a good repellant for most other attic dwellers. Be careful with moth flakes, they are a fumigant that can affect people and pets in the living area as well.

Thanks to Catsmine for the mothball and paprika idea, that's what did the trick on my squirrels buddy.
