Does anyone know what year the government started putting plastic strips inside paper money

Thank you. But I'm not sure if you know what I mean. I'm talking about the plastic strip that runs vertical up and down a 5, 10, 20, bill etc. you could be thinking of the red and blue threads they weaved in to the bill around that time. Example 20 dollar bill will say USA 20 USA 20 USA 20 . The reason I really want to know the year is I think I had genuine counterfeit 50 dollar bill at one time the year on the bill was 1985. With no plastic strip.

Jb25420- YES I do know what you are asking about on the plastic strips and not the special fibbers inpaper money ;;I just need to find it in a book I have and referash my mind on it ;; its hard to remember all there is about coins and paper currency ; al though I do answer most questions by memmory; but I always still double check my answers ,and I will find yours A.S.A.P. ; have a great day and GOD BLESS ::F.B.E.
