I purchased a grundfos recirculation pump for my hot water system and I'm planning the installation. The thing is pretty heavy and there are no attach points to mount the pump itself. I'm installing it on a wall with 16" center studs. With only 1/2" copper spanning the 16" with the pump somewhere in the middle, will there be enough support? What are my other options?

you could span the 16" studs with horizontal 2x4s, then run unistrut in the vertical on top of the added 2x4s. Place the unistrut right up tight to each side of pump, then use half inch copper tubing unistrut clamps to mount the copper tubing to the unistrut. This will ensure a solid mount, and also give you room between the pump and wall. Of course this is only one of many ways to mount the pump to wall. Hope this all makes sense.

You could also just put up some plywood to span the studs and put anchors closer to pump by anchoring the pipe to the plywood.

Sorry John. I saw this post but didn't have access to the information and then got sidetracked.

I got a UP15-10BUC5/TLC. I got this one because it has enough power for moving the water around the loop in my 1 story ranch. I also wanted a line corde, timer, check valve and sweat fittings.

If I were to do it again, I might go for one with union fittings. As it is, I'm putting a union and valve on each side.

The problem is that the motor spindle must be horizontal, which means it's cantilevered out from the mounting service, hence my concern about how to mount it.

Hot circ-pump hangs on the 1/2" pipe itself. No special support is needed.
